The Edge Background

May 8, 2009, OSHKOSH, WI—The Edge is an interactive, Web-based job interviewing and career search management application developed by UseTheEdge, LLC of Green Bay, WI.

Forged from nearly 20 years of employment recruiting experience, The Edge offers the ability to create, store, practice, and track job interviewing performance in a secure, online environment.

Users of The Edge can either create their own interviewing questions or choose from more than 80 standard questions.

After creating sample interviews, users can either practice on their own, or have a partner pose as the interviewer and rate their performance.  Scores are tracked for improvement over time .

Users can also store information about the organizations they are targeting for employment, track interview dates/times, gain interviewing etiquette and tips, create/store dynamic, searchable resumes, and much more.

Additionally, users can create and publish their own career Web site using the template provided within the My Web Site portion of The Edge.

“We created The Edge to provide people with a safe environment to develop the all-important job interviewing skills required to land the job,” stated Tony Louscher, author of the application.  “This is especially critical for college students.  Literally, their entire college investment hangs on a few interviews.”

The Edge is not just for individuals or universities. The Edge is ideal for outplacement recruiting firms, not for profit organizations, state-run job placement agencies, as well as corporations looking for a way to help internal candidates advance their career - providing an environment for managers to practice interviewing candidates

“For many managers, interviewing candidates is more nerve racking than being interviewed,” continues Louscher.  “People who have recently been promoted out of a technical role into their first management position seem to have the hardest time.  Between walking the fine legal line for asking questions, to appropriately judging a candidate’s responses, interviewing new hires is an acquired skill that requires practicing.”

“There is a huge need out there for our application, both from universities and professional organizations,” said Louscher.  “Remember, it’s all about the interview.  As we like to say, Want the job… Use The Edge!”
